Activity: Read Aloud Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

Hook: 

Ask students what they think the book might be about based on the title and picture on the cover.

Discussion/Active Engagement:

Librarian will read the book to the students. 

After reading, students will turn and talk to their partner about what happened in the story. 

We will discuss the pigeon’s actions and the consequences of his actions.

Ask students what they would do if they were in this same situation.


Independent Practice:

With a pencil and paper, students will create a timeline of a time when they had to make a responsible decision, and what they did to make that decision. 


Closing:  

Students will share with classmates at their tables. 

Whole class share: What helps you make the right decisions?


Students can use the remainder of class to check out books.
